FRESH APPLE CRUMB CAKE 
4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. Crisco
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
Apples
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. cinnamon

Cut apples, cook 5 minutes; cool. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cut in shortening (as in pie crust). Add egg and vanilla. Reserve 1 cup for topping. Place in 10"x14" pan. Put crumbs in pan. Place apples on top. Add topping: 2 tablespoons sugar mixed with 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Add to 1 cup crumbs. Sprinkle on top and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
