PASTIES 
DOUGH:

1 c. Crisco or lard
3 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vinegar
2/3 c. water

Combine as you would any pie crust.

FILLING:

8 c. diced potatoes
2 c. diced carrots
1/2 rutabaga (opt.)
1 lg. chopped onion
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
2 1/2 lb. cubed round steak or 1 1/2 lbs. hamburger + 1 lb. ground pork

Mix thoroughly. Divide dough in 6 parts. Roll out dough and fill. Top with butter. Fold dough over filling and seal. Put slits in crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until a fork goes through potatoes easily.
