“BUTTERMILK-NUT CANDY” IS IN:

BUTTERMILK-NUT CANDY 
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. corn syrup (Karl)
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts

Add baking soda to buttermilk in a 4-quart saucepan, Stir well and let stand 1 minute.

Add sugar, corn syrup and butter. Cook to the soft ball stage (236-238°F on candy thermometer).

Add vanilla and nuts. Beat until mixture begins to thicken.

Drop by teaspoon onto buttered cookie sheet.

Variation: May use 1/2 cup coconut flakes instead of nuts.

Cooks Note: Use of a candy thermometer is recommended.
