SWEDISH MEAT BALLS AND GRAVY | |
1 lb. ground beef 2 slices white bread 1/4 c. milk 1 sm. onion, grated 1 egg 1 tbsp. parsley 1/4 tsp. green cloves 1/4 tsp. all spice 4 tbsp. butter GRAVY: 2 tbsp. flour 1 1/2 c. canned beef broth 1/2 tsp. soy sauce 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce Salt and pepper Soak bread in milk. Use hands mixing togehter until you have a "thick batter". Add meat, onion, egg, parsley, cloves and all spice, mix well. Shape into tiny balls, melt butter in skillet and brown meat balls. Remove meat balls from skillet. Thicken butter remaining in skillet with flour. Slowly add beef broth, Worcestershire, 1/4 teaspoon soy sauce, cook on low heat stirring until thick and smooth. Taste to see if you want to add another 1/4 teaspoon soy sauce. Put meat balls in gravy and cook 10 minutes. |
