CUSTARD BREAD PUDDING | |
1 qt. milk, scalded 3 slices dry bread, cubed (may use 1-2 slices more if desired) 3/4 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. butter 4 slightly beaten eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. nutmeg or cinnamon Scald milk and add butter, salt and sugar. Cool milk slightly. Pour slowly over eggs while stirring. Add vanilla; mix well. Stir in bread cubes. Sprinkle spice on top. Pour into a greased 2 quart baking dish. Place bowl in a pan of water to bake. Bake uncovered in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Raisins may be added to mixture if desired. |
