JAM CAKE 
3 eggs
2 c. sugar
5 c. self-rising flour
2 c. apples (dried, cooked apples, sweetened)
2 c. raisins
2 c. jam
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. peach preserves
2 c. strawberry preserves
1 tsp. each all kinds of spices

This recipe will make 8 layers - enough for 2 cakes.

ICING:

3 c. brown sugar
3 c. white sugar
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 stick butter

Cook icing until it forms a soft ball when dropped into a glass of cold water.
