MOM'S CHERRY PUDDING 
2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. melted shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
About 1 1/2 c. milk

TOPPING:

1 c. sugar
1 can sour cherries with juice
1/2 c. hot water

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, melted shortening and vanilla. Mix with enough milk to make a stiff batter and pour into greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Combine topping ingredients and pour on top of batter. Bake at 350 degrees about 25 minutes until lightly browned. The topping and cherries will sink as the batter rises, leaving sauce at the bottom of the dish.
