GOLDEN RAISIN SCONES 
2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. butter, cut into bits
1/2 c. golden raisins
2/3 c. milk
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tbsp.sugar

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add raisins, milk and eggs; stir until evenly moistened. Knead dough into a ball on a well floured surface. Pat into 9 inch circle. Cut into 8 wedges. Transfer to an ungreased baking sheet. Brush tops of scones with milk then sprinkle with sugar. Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until pale golden color.
