SESAME SEED BUTTER (TAHINI)

1/4 c. sesame seed oil
1 tbsp. honey (optional)

Place sesame seeds in a shallow pan and roast at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Cool and place in a blender. Cover and blend on medium speed until the seeds are finely ground. Add the oil (and honey if used) slowly, blending and stirring until creamy. Yields about 1 1/2 cups.

Sesame Seed Butter (Tahini)

This recipe worked great. I finally got a blender that will grind seeds properly and wanted to make sesame butter for eating rather than for middle eastern cooking. I did not bake the seeds, but kept them raw. The honey and sesame seed oil blended with the ground seeds taste great. You can also add as much honey as you want and eat it as a snack; this is called halva, and if refrigerated will become a hard snack that is very tasty and healthy too.
