EASY PEAR PRESERVES 
8 c. chopped pears
1 lemon, sliced
5 c. sugar
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 c. water

Wash, core, pare, chopped and measure pears; place in large heavy kettle. Add lemon, sugar, ginger, and water. Bring to a boil; cook for about 1 1/2 hours or until thick. Pour boiling preserves into hot pint jars. Seal at once. Yields about 3 pints.
