MOLASSES CRINKLES OR HOCKEY
PUFFS
 
3/4 c. soft shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger

Mix shortening, brown sugar, egg and molasses together thoroughly. Sift together and stir in flour, soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. Chill dough. Roll in balls the size of walnuts.

Dip tops in sugar. Add a few drop of water. Place sugar side up 3 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake until set but NOT hard.
