To the person who used the out dated cake mix. They say for health reasons you shouldn't use one as the flour can get moldy after the out date and a person can get very sick or die if they can't take mold.

To keep cookies from burning place a pan of water on the next rack below the cookies. They wont burn then.. :)

Easy great recipe. Had to make cookies for a last minute exchange with little cash, and made 2 batches for under $6. Tried adding a tsp Vanilla extract and 1 cup milk chocolate chips to a milk chocolate Duncan Hines mix and the same additions plus 1/2 tsp mint extract and fine crushed candy canes to a chocolate fudge mix and they were great. Baked 8-10 minutes as 15 is too long.

Pineapple cake mix with canned crushed pineapple added is so yummy, they are sorta chewy and just darn good. I am trying them today and adding some coconut and almonds to half the dough! Hope they turn out good!

We have tried a multitude of varieties with great success. Our favorites are yellow cake, craisins, almonds and white choc. chips or chocolate rolled around pecans and 1/2 caramello make a big ball, then rolled in powdered sugar after it's baked. They look lie we spent a ton of time but are so so easy!

This is my GO TO cookie recipe! I do yellow-butter cake mix and add an extra 1/4 cup brown sugar, a dash of salt, 1 tsp vanilla extract and chocolate chips. It makes the PERFECT chocolate chip cookie everytime and I've had people tell me they're the best they've ever had.

My OTHER fave is chocolate cake mix 1 tsp peppermint extract with white chocolate chips. They are my husbands favorite and are the PERFECT Christmas cookie!

Try pineapple cake mix with small chunks of pineapple well drained, or white cake mix and roll in crushed candy canes before you bake it, the list is endless as to what you can do!!

Outdated cake mix and pancake mix is very dangerous to use especially for the elderly or children. This was all over the news in 2009 because someone almost died from severe bloating using outdated pancake mix. It's the same warning for outdated cake mix too. Back to the recipe~~I use choc cake mix then make peanutbutter icing and sprinkle with peanuts...yummy!

@shallana collins-texas..the reason your cookies burned~~ you made them too small and had too much of the mint candies and not enough dough to help protect the candy while baking. Just use more cookie dough and less of the candy and that will fix your problem.

I used this to make Black and White cookies. They were my favorite growing up but just too much work to make from scratch. This way is just perfect! Just iced one side with vanilla (confectioners sugar/water/vanilla extract) and the other side with chocolate (Confectioners sugar/water/cocoa powder).

I used yellow cake mix, then added cinnamon, crushed pineapple, coconut, walnuts and chopped cherries. Instead of oil I used applesauce and I didn't need the water because of the juice from the pineapple. For a bit more texture, I added a liitle granola that I had. I really made them up as I went! These were so simple, delicious, and I didn't use any fats. So they were sorta healthy cookies (if that really exists). I took them to a cookie swap and people wanted the recipe. I look forward to making up more!

I absolutely love this recipe!! Last night I used Pillsbury yellow cake mix and added chocolate chips. Everybody loved them! Today I'm using Duncan Hines Marble cake mix and I'm going to add walnuts & chocolate chips. I'm also using Spice mix and I'm going to add white chocolate chips, and Devil's Food Mix with crushed candy canes...Thanks for this recipe!! Happy Holidays :)

I made the cookies using yellow cake mix and then adding some vanilla flavoring and then some chocolate flavoring. Turned out perfect. I am going to make some more today as my little neighbor boy likes them too.
