12 slices stale bread 1 sm. onion, diced 1 piece celery, diced 2 eggs 1 tbsp. butter, melted 1/2 c. milk (more or less) 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt Dash of pepper Dice bread and add onion, celery, eggs, salt, pepper, melted butter. Mix baking powder in hot milk and moisten bread mixture. Mix well and form into medium sized balls. Let stand for one hour or overnight to dry, then place on top of cooked roast and bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Be careful that they don't get in broth, lid should be tight. |
