DELLA GOAD'S BAKED APPLES
This family recipe has been used for over 100 years. It was given to me by my great-grandmother, Della Goad, and she was taught this recipe by her mother (Aldora Ousley) and grandmother.

4 to 6 apples
1/2 to 3/4 cup water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
glass baking dish
Cool Whip or ice cream (optional)

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Peel and slice apples. Place apples in a glass baking dish and cover with water. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

In a medium size bowl mix sugar and flour well then cover apples with this mixture.

In a small bowl microwave butter until melted, then pour melted butter over the flour and sugar mixture.

Bake 40 minutes at 400°F.

Note: If during baking it still looks powdery in spots tap the flour sugar mixture down into the juices with a fork.

This dish can be served hot or cold, and with or without ice cream or Cool Whip.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
