EASY FRUIT CAKE 
1/2 lb. butter
2 c. water
4 c. fruit (raisins)
1/4 lb. mixed fruit
2 oz. slivered almonds
2 c. sugar
4 c. flour
2 tsp. mixed spice
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs

Bring to a boil water, sugar, butter, and fruit. Boil for 1 minute and let cool. Add dry ingredients. Add beaten eggs last. Bake in 10 inch cake tin at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
