MABEL'S NO FAIL PIE CRUST 
4 c. flour
1 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 egg
1/2 c. water

This crust lasts well in the refrigerator and freezes very well for later use.

I have used this exact recipe for 40 years and it it tender, flaky and delicious.
Do not mix too long and be sure to refrigerate before rolling out the dough. I keep some in freezer so when I'm in a pie baking mood, it's ready to go.
