RAISIN AND SPICE COOKIES | |
4 c. flour 1 c. cold water 2 c. raisins 1 c. shortening 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. chopped walnuts 2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 3 eggs 1/4 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. baking soda Add water to raisins. Boil for 5 minutes. Set aside and cool, drain. Cream shortening, add sugar, eggs, vanilla, and raisins. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add spices to the dry mixture. Combine dry mixture to creamed mixture. Add walnuts. Drop on teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes. Yields: 15-16 dozen. NOTE: These are a soft cookie. |
