4 eggs
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. potatoes, mashed
2/3 c. cocoa
1/3 c. molasses
1 heaping tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. lemon extract

Thoroughly mix flour, cocoa, soda, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon. Cream butter and sugar, then add molasses and mashed potatoes and mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately. Then add lemon extract and beat well. Bake in layers at 350 degrees until done. Frost with chocolate frosting.
