MOLASSES SUGAR COOKIES 
Melt 3/4 cup shortening in a 3 quart saucepan. Cool. Add 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup molasses and 1 egg. Beat well. Sift together:

2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt

Add to first mixture. Mix well and chill. Form into 1 inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a 375 degree oven.
