1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix and drop on cookie sheet by teaspoonfuls and bake 15 minutes at 325 degrees.
