NUTMEG COOKIE LOGS | |
3 c. flour 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 c. butter 2 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. rum flavoring 3/4 c. sugar 1 unbeaten egg Cream together butter, vanilla and rum flavorings. Gradually add sugar. Blend in unbeaten egg. Add sifted dry ingredients gradually and mix thoroughly. Chill dough. Shape pieces of dough on lightly floured surface into long rolls, 1/2" in diameter. Cut in 2 1/2" lengths. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool. Spread frosting on top and sides and mark with tines of fork to resemble bark. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg. FROSTING: 3 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. rum flavoring 2 1/2 c. powdered sugar 2-3 tbsp. milk or cream Cream butter and flavorings. Blend in sugar gradually alternating with cream. Beat well after each addition. |
