WHITE SMOOTH ICING 
1 c. shortening (1/4 butter & Crisco)
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. marshmallow creme

Mix the two shortenings well with the mixer. Add sugar and flour. Then drizzle in milk and vanilla. At this point it looks curdled but keep mixing for 5 minutes or so until sugar is dissolved. Then add the marshmallow creme and beat for 2 more minutes.

OPTIONAL: Sprinkle nuts or coconut on top after frosting cake. Enough for two 9-inch layers. Frosted cake holds up well on counter top or in refrigerator.
