APPLE SQUARES 
CRUST:

1 c. shortening
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
2 eggs
Milk
Cornflakes

Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Beat 2 egg yolks in cup and add milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to pastry mixture. Divide in two. Roll out half in 10x15 inch pan. Crumble corn flakes (about 1 1/2 cups) over bottom crust.

Add 7 or 8 sliced apples and sprinkle with a mixture of: 1 1/4 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Roll out remaining pastry and place over apples. Seal edges. Beat 2 egg whites until frothy. Spread over top. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes. Combine powdered sugar, vanilla and water in thin consistency and drizzle over top while hot. Cool and serve.
