CHOCOLATE CHIP BUTTER COOKIES | |
A basic chocolate chip cookie -- rich with brown sugar. 2 cups all-purpose flour* 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1/2 cup chopped nuts Preheat oven to 375°F. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside. Cream butter. Gradually add sugars, creaming well. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Blend in the dry ingredients gradually. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Drops dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 375°F for 10 to 12 minutes. Note: If using self-rising flour, omit baking soda and salt. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen cookies. |
