BUTTER CREAM ICING 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 egg white, unbeaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. milk

Cream butter and shortening well. Gradually add sugar. Beat until smooth. Add egg white, vanilla and milk. Beat until light and fluffy.

VARIATIONS:

Chocolate frosting - add 1/2 ounce melted chocolate.

Yellow frosting - add 1 egg yolk instead of egg white.
