BUTTER CREAM ICING 
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 lb. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. milk

Cream shortening and butter. Add part of powdered sugar. Add vanilla and milk; gradually add remaining sugar. For smooth cake icing add more milk (1/2 teaspoon). To decorate with icing add 1/2 teaspoon less milk.
