1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. white sugar
1 beaten egg
2 c, sifted flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. applesauce

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg. Mix flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt together. Mix nuts into dry mixture. Mix dry mixture alternately to cream mixture with applesauce. Put in loaf pan, put batter to outside of pan. Leave dent in middle. Cook 1 hour at 350 degrees.
