Had this at a friend's house - they bottled it in quart canning jars with screw top (rings and lids), very moonshine-ish!! overall good recipe, little watery like another reviewer said, but good taste and relatively inexpensive.

Awesome Idea! I made some for my fiancee for Valentine's day. I used dark rum,coffee, 100% cocoa powder and dark brown sugar. We made some "adult chocolate milk" with it.

I moved from Kansas City to Iowa. then to Georgia. I moved a bottle with me and it was 21 years old when we opened it and it was thick and excellent. I always make mine way ahead of time and give it out as gifts when visiting other homes. Make a cloth bag like the paper ones you buy at the stores.

I looked all over for a recipe using real coffee. This one is a truly yummy recipe, my bf likes it even better than real Kahlua. I have made it with different coffees (it is the main flavour, so don't cheap out here) but I agree the Millstone Chocolate Velvet is the best! I tried adding the chocolate syrup (as suggested in a comment below). This tasted great too (the chocolate flavour just adds a deep richness). But don't add the syrup to the coffee grounds while brewing like I did. Let's just say it clogged up the coffee filter, and while my house smelled deliciously exotic, I was cleaning up the stickiness for days. I use 3/4 a 1 liter bottle of 190 grain alcohol. I myself like using dark brown sugar, adds another layer of richness. I also prefer the real vanilla to an extract. I will enjoy playing more with this one :)

I just finished making this recipe. I used 750ml Everclear, 6 tablespoons of Vanilla Extract, 2 lbs. light brown sugar and 14 cups of Millstone Chocolate Velvet Coffee. Very tasty! A bit strong but in a cup of coffee with cream its perfect. I will try making it with 18 cups of coffee next time.

Just done making, I used 151 everclear and cooked it down for 45 min before letting cool. Excellent, not to strong. Great recipe.

I have made this 4 times... with the clear spring and regular vodka Great recipe. Costco here in Hawaii sells a coconut flavored vodka made in Oahu. Awesome flavor. I have use the Christmas flavored coffee from Starbucks and pure vanilla. My next batch I want to try vanilla Mac nut coffee and the coconut flavored vodka.

I tripled the coffee, and used Folgers Mocha, light brown sugar, and 750ml of Everclear, 5 tbsp. vanilla. MMMMMMM good! This really is a good recipe, and I need to make more!

This came out fantastic! I did change a few things though. I couldn't conceive if how strong This would be if made with grain alcohol. So I had some Goslings black rum in the house, and I used that in place of the vodka. I also used the Coffee Beanery's Sinful Sundae coffee in place of the chocolate coffee. To that I added a couple of tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder. I bought some vanilla beans, but haven't put them in yet. Everyone who tried it said it was better than the Kahlua brand. They all liked the rum over the grain or alcohol. When I looked up the ingredients of the Kahlua brand liquor, it stated it Was made with sugarcane alcohol. So I looked online to see what alcohol was made from sugar and rum was made with sugar so I used that instead. I'm really happy with the overall product, and it doesn't even need to age for a long time. I had to take it away from my brother-in-law this weekend because I'm planning on giving it as gifts, and he drank half the bottle.

I use 80 proof Smirnoff and Mackinac Island fudge paramount coffee. This combo turns out AWESOME... Everyone who that is lucky enough to get a taste loves it. Making my second batch today!!!

This recipe turned out amazing! The chocolate flavored coffee gave it just the right aroma. My friends all want some, now I have to make more.

I tried the same recipe using maple syrup instead of vanilla and 1/3 less sugar. Different but likely my fave.

I just tried this for the first time, using 750 ml of grain alcohol, the Millstone Chocolate Velvet coffee and my leftover brown and granulated white sugars, plus Splenda to make the required 2 lbs called for in the recipe. After it was ready, I tasted it and my only complaint was that it was so strong, alcoholically speaking. I then added two cups of water, which had the added benefit of increasing my yield. To answer the yield question, I ended up with 5-750 ml bottles of finished Kahlua, plus an extra 3/4 of a 6th bottle. I'm making this for holiday gifts, so I will probably do another half batch to get to the 10 bottles I planned for.

After consulting with a distiller friend I made this recipe with 1/2 jar of Modaglia D'ORO instant espresso and 2 cups brown and 1 cup white sugars with 5 tblspns good quality vanilla. A fifth of 190 added to 2 1/4 Quarts of syrup mixture made 3 fifths plus a mickey (half pint) for tasting. It finished out to about 62 proof and tastes really good. I used turbinado sugar (2 lbs) on my first batch but did not care for the heavy flavor. Great recipe, thanks.
