ANNAMARIA'S NUT TORTE 
A rich winter confection.

1 box vanilla wafers
1/2 lb. walnuts
1/2 lb. almonds
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Crush wafers or process into crumbs. Chop nuts medium-fine by hand or in processor. Add to wafer crumbs. Add can sweetened condensed milk. Press into buttered cake pan firmly. Refrigerate a minimum of 30 minutes. Unmold onto plate and decorate (candied cherries, chocolate leaves, or whatever you like) or sift powdered sugar over top.
