CHICKEN DRESSING | |
1 fryer, boiled, deboned 1 recipe cornbread (recipe follows) 8 or 10 slices loaf bread 6 or 8 biscuits or buns 4 eggs, beaten 1 tsp. black pepper 1 c. chopped onion 2 sticks butter Sage to taste CORNBREAD FOR DRESSING: 1 1/2 c. self rising meal 1 1/2 c. buttermilk 3/4 c. melted Crisco 4 eggs 2 heaping tbsp. flour 2 heaping tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt Mix all ingredients pouring Crisco last. Mix until well blended. Bake at 450 degrees for 30 minutes. DRESSING: Crumble all bread in 4 1/2 quart bowl. Soften with broth from chicken. Add pepper, onions, eggs, melted butter and sage; mix well. Bake in a large Corningware dish (10"x15") at 350 degrees until light brown. |
