8 DAY SWEET CHUNK PICKLES 
14 lg. cucumbers
1 qt. vinegar
8 c. sugar
3 tbsp. mixed spices
2 tbsp. salt

Pour boiling water over the washed cucumbers. The next day drain the water off. Heat and pour over the cucumbers. Continue for 3 more days. On the fifth day drain, wash and cut the cucumbers in chunks.

Make a syrup of vinegar, sugar, spices and salt. Pour hot syrup over the cucumbers for the next 2 days. (Drain each day, heat the syrup and pour over the cucumbers as before.) On the fourth day place cucumber chunks in jars. Pour the heated syrup over them and seal. Cucumbers can also be sliced.
