3/4 c. milk, scalded
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
3 c. sifted plain or bread flour

Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm. Add 1 cup flour; beat well. Beat in yeast and egg. Add remaining flour; mix well. Place in greased bowl, grease surface. Cover; refrigerate at least 2 hours (overnight is o.k.).

About 1 1/2 to 2 hours before serving, shape into rolls. Let rise until double (about 1 1/4 hours). Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Makes 16 rolls.
