BLACK WALNUT CARAMELS | |
READ DIRECTIONS BEFORE MIXING: 2 c. sugar Few grains salt 2 c. white corn syrup 1/2 c. butter 2 c. Pet milk 1 tsp. vanilla 3 oz. black walnuts Stirring occasionally, boil the sugar, salt and corn syrup to 245 degrees (very thick syrup). Add butter (in pieces) then milk gradually so that mixture does NOT stop boiling at any time. Stir constantly and cook until firm ball stage (242 degrees). This mixture is very thick and sticks easily at last. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into greased pan, cool. Cut with a heavy knife and wrap in foil. |
