CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE | |
1 stick butter 2 c. flour 2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 tbsp. vanilla 1/2 c. buttermilk 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate 1 c. hot water 1 tsp. baking soda Melt chocolate in double boiler first. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Sift flour and add alternately with buttermilk. Add 1/2 cup hot water to melted chocolate. Put other 1/2 cup in a pan and bring to a boil. This is most important. To this, add soda and immediately add this to chocolate. Pour chocolate mixture into batter. Add vanilla. Bake in greased tube pan for 1 hour at 325 degrees. |
