3 eggs
1 1/2 c. sweet milk or buttermilk
2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 sm. onion, chopped fine
1 tsp. melted shortening
2 1/2 c. white cornmeal
Hot, deep fat for frying

Beat eggs; add milk. Sift dry ingredients together and add to egg and milk. Add chopped onion and melted shortening. Mix quickly. Drop small amounts from a spoon into hot, deep fat and fry until golden brown.
