2 pounds round steak cut in small pieces. Brown in 2 tablespoons shortening. Add 1 onion (sliced), 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Add 1 cup water, cover and cook until tender. Add more water if necessary. While cooking meat prepare sauce.
Cook 1 chopped onion and 1 clove garlic, minced in 3 tablespoons butter for 5 minutes. Add 1 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons vinegar, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon dry mustard, 1 tablespoon chili powder and dash lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes. Add meat mixture and simmer a little while. Serve on buns.
