NAVAJO SQUAW BREAD | |
3 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 1/3 c. warm water 3/4 c. shortening or oil 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder Mix together flour, salt and baking powder. Add water, then knead until dough is soft (by hand). Melt shortening in frying pan until hot. Take a piece of dough, flatten and drop into fat. Dough should be round and thin, similar to a tortilla. After it is fried it should puff up and be beautifully brown. |
