1 (#2) can crushed pineapple
1 (#2) can cherry pie filling
1 box white or yellow cake mix
1 1/2 sticks butter
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Grease and flour long cake pan. Pour in can of pineapple and juice. Spread evenly. Top with cherry pie filling. Spread evenly. Over this sprinkle the cake mix and nuts. Dot top with sliced butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. May be served with Dream Whip.
