BISCUITS AND SAUSAGE GRAVY
8 buttermilk biscuits
3/4 pound of sausage (fatty sausage works best for this)
4 cups of milk
4-8 tablespoons flour

Prepare biscuits as instructed on package. Brown sausage in skillet. As soon as sausage is completely brown, turn to medium heat. Add flour by the tablespoon, stirring constantly. Let the flour turn BROWN before adding another tablespoon (if you don't, your gravy will taste like flour). After you have added enough flour to make the gravy as thick as you like, add milk and stir with whisk.

Serve over biscuits.

So yummy! My son and husband love biscuits and gravy and this recipe was amazing and soooo easy! I used turkey sausage and added about 6 tbsp. of flour to make the gravy somewhat thick (what we like). It turned out great! Thank you for sharing!

This turned out great. The directions to add just one tablespoon of flour at a time and wait until it browned in the juices before adding another tablespoon of flour was key. Because we can't have dairy, I did use a can of broth for the liquid, but the end result was rich and delicious and quick. It was great over homemade scones. Thanks, Danine. (PS I did not use a whisk because the sausage would get caught.)

I find it best for you beginners lol to add the flour to the milk and stir till it dissolves without lumps then pour in with sausage and whisk away.

This recipe is very, very close to my great-grandmother's German version, and we love it! I add lemon pepper, Johnny's, black ground pepper, minced onion, and a 1/4tsp of garlic to the sausage while it's browning. Delish!! Will definately be making it again... Soon! :)

I have used this recipe for a LONG time - but believe it or not - discovered something better - with only 2 ingredients - and is actually better than Hardee's.

One envelope of "Pioneer Sausage Gravy Mix"... and your own favorite sausage. Cook your sausage and crumble. Prepare the gravy mix per pkg., once its prepared - add your own crumbled sausage and put over biscuits. HONEST... IT IS better than Hardee's Sausage & Gravy Biscuit.

This was great just what I was looking for. I used maple sausage by mistake but everyone thought it was really good. Thank you.

This recipe can be expanded, I would start with about 5 pounds of sausage and just work it up to the consistency I wanted, we could serve between 20 & 30 for breakfast at the Sportsmans club on a Sunday morning with no complaints.

My family is a biscuit and gravy family, but we always eat it at Restaurants. I made this recipe this weekend and my family thought it was the best they have ever had. The only change I made to the recipe is that I used 1 lb. of Jimmy Dean sausage, salt and peppered to taste. I will make it again!

To the gravy I add 1 (one) cap full of Wrights Liquid Smoke, it kicks up the flavor so much.

Great recipe, mine turned out great. I was also concerned after adding milk but realized I needed to boil down the gravy to get the correct consistency.

Funny that I'm 27, ate biscuits and gravy countless times, claim it as your favorite breakfast meal and then realize I don't even know how to make it! Thank God for awesome moms..... and cooks.com
