STEWED TOMATOES 
3 lg. ripe tomatoes
1/3 c. finely chopped onion
2 tbsp. chopped green pepper
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 c. soft bread crumbs

1 (16 oz.) can peeled tomatoes can be substituted for the fresh tomatoes.

Remove stem end from each tomato; peel tomatoes and cut into small pieces. Mix tomatoes, onion, green pepper, sugar, salt and pepper. Cover and heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer until onion and green pepper are tender, 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in bread cubes, 4 or 5 servings.
