STRAWBERRY JAM BREAD | |
3 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. salt 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. butter, softened 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. lemon juice 4 eggs 1 c. strawberry jam 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 c. chopped nuts Combine flour, salt and cream of tartar and soda. Set aside. Combine sugar, butter, vanilla and lemon juice in a large mixing bowl. Cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition. Stir together jam and buttermilk. Add to creamed mixture. Alternate with dry ingredients. Mix just to blend, stir in nuts. Pour into 2 (9 x 5 x 3 inch) loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes. Cool 15 minutes. Remove from pans onto rack. Makes 2 loaves. |
