SCOTTISH TABLET | |
THIS IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST EVER RECIPE FOR TRADITIONAL SCOTTISH TABLET! 1000g (1kg) granulated sugar 120g butter 7 tablespoons condensed milk 340ml water Put all ingredients in a pot on the "hob" (cooktop) at a medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved and keep stirring until mixture comes to the boil. Bring mixture down to a decent simmer, stir occasionally. It takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes of simmering to go tablet colour. Take the mix down to a really low heat, stirring gently until there are no more bubbles then remove from the heat. Leave for 3-5 minutes and then beat the mix really hard. If it doesn't appear to be setting add a sprinkle of granulated sugar. It will start to set while mixing, at which point pour the mix into a tin (I normally use a pizza tray/tin) and leave to set. ENJOY!!! Submitted by: Babzwilson |
