STUFFED CABBAGE | |
12 lg. cabbage leaves 1 lb. ground beef and 1/4 lb. ground pork 2 tsp. salt Pepper to suit taste 1 c. cooked rice 1 sm. onion, chopped 2 tbsp. corn oil or Wesson oil 1 egg 1 can mushroom soup (condensed) 2 (8 oz.) cans of tomato sauce or paste 1 tbsp. brown sugar 1/4 c. water 1 tbsp. of vinegar Place cabbage leaves in large vessel and cover with boiling water and let stand until limp (about 5 minutes). Drain water off. Mix rice, ground meats, salt, pepper, onion, and egg together with corn oil; shape into balls and wrap cabbage leaves around them. Place in saucepan. Mix tomato sauce, mushroom soup, brown sugar, water, and vinegar, stirring until well mixed. Pour over cabbage and meat and let simmer with lid over it for about 30 minutes. |
