WALNUT FILLED WALNUT CAKE 
2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, separated
3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add beat egg yolk. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Fold in stiffly beaten egg white. Spread half of batter in deep greased pie pan. Spread half of filling over top. Add remaining batter and top with balance of filling. Bake at 350-375 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes.

FILLING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped walnuts
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. melted shortening

Add together.
