1 c. yellow cornmeal 3/4 c. all purpose flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt (optional) 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1/8 c. milk 1 egg, well beaten 1/4 c. finely chopped onion Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and garlic powder in medium bowl. Mix in milk, egg and onion until well blended. Drop by round teaspoon into deep hot oil at 375 degrees. Fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot. Yields 4 to 6 servings. |
