BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
4 qt cucumbers, sliced
6 med onions, sliced or chopped
2 bell peppers, chopped
3 cloves garlic
4 c sugar
3 c apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 tsp celery seed
2 T mustard seed

Stir 1/2 cup of salt into first four ingredients and cover with ice cubes. Soak for about 3 hours. Remove cucumbers and mix from salt water and drain. Bring to a boil the remaining ingredients and then add cucumber mixture to hot vinegar. Heat to hot but not boiling. Mixture will change colors. Pack into jars and seal. Do Not Overcook.
