BREAD PUDDING 
1 c. stalebread cut into cubes
2 c. hot milk
1 egg, beaten
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. raisins
Few grains of nutmeg or 1 tsp. vanilla

Put bread into oiled baking dish. Mix milk, egg, sugar, salt, and flavoring and pour over bread. Add raisins and dot with butter. Set the dish in a pan of hot water and bake the pudding in a slow oven 300 degrees until firm and slightly browned on top. Serve with sauce or cream.
