BEST BREAD PUDDING 
5 slices bread
1/2 c. brown sugar in bottom of dish.
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. vanilla
3 c. milk, scalded
1 c. raisins
5 tsp. butter

Add raisins to milk, soak 1/2 hour, drain. Scald milk. Beat eggs and dry ingredients. Tear bread in small pieces; lay on 1/2 cup brown sugar in bottom of greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Melt butter in hot milk, add slowly to egg mixture. Add raisins. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes.
