OLD FASHIONED MACARONI AND
CHEESE
 
6-7 oz. elbow macaroni (about 2 c.)
2 tbsp. grated onion
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 c. shredded processed sharp cheese (about 3/4 lb.)
2 c. thin white sauce
1 tbsp. butter

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.

2. Cook macaroni as directed on package.

3. Place half the macaroni in ungreased 2 quart casserole.

4. Sprinkle with half the onion, salt, pepper and cheese; repeat steps 3 and 4.

5. Pour white sauce over casserole.

6. Dot with butter.

7. Cover, bake 30 minutes.

8. Uncover; bake 15 minutes longer.

THIN WHITE SAUCE:

2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 c. milk

1. Melt butter in saucepan over low heat.

2. Add flour, salt and pepper.

3. Cook over low heat stirring while mixture is smooth and bubbly.

4. Remove from heat. Stir in milk.

5. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.

6. Boil and stir 1 minute.

7. Save for "Old Fashioned Macaroni & Cheese".
