TX COOK'S NOT YET FAMOUS BAR-B-QUE SAUCE | |
2 small cans tomato sauce 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar 1/2 cup prepared yellow mustard 1/4 cup honey 2 tablespoons lemon juice 3 tablespoons Claude's brisket sauce (1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce and 1 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke) 1/2 teaspoon ground sage 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon Tony Chachere's creole seasoning salt and pepper, to taste 1 teaspoon corn starch dissolved in 1/4 cup cold water Over medium heat dissolve sugar, mustard and honey into tomato sauce and simmer for 2 minutes. Add honey, lemon juice and brisket sauce and stir together until completely mixed. Simmer for 2 minutes. Stir in spices until completely combined. Simmer for 2 more minutes. Add cornstarch/water mixture and stir for one minute. Reduce heat to lowest setting and simmer for 10 minutes without boiling. Stir often to prevent sticking. This sauce is a great grilling sauce for steaks, pork chops, ribs, etc. Brush on meats while cooking. Refrigerate remaining sauce and it will last for about a week in the refrigerator. This sauce has a smokey, sweet flavor. If you can find the Claude's brisket sauce in your supermarket, it gives the best flavor. Submitted by: TX Cook |
